MEN’S 200 BACK:

  1. Shaine Casas (TAMU) – 1:38.21
  2. Johannes Calloni (STAN) – 1:42.18
  3. Kane Follows (HAWAII) – 1:44.63

Shaine Casas blazed to a new best time, winning the race by 4 seconds. Casas came into the meet with a 1:39.84 best from last season. His 1:38.21 tonight makes Casas the #7 performer all-time in the NCAA, and currently leads the NCAA this season. Casas’ time was also an NCAA A cut, automatically qualifying him for NCAAs in March.

Johannes Calloni was just off his personal best, which sits at 1:41.82 from last year’s PAC 12 Championships.

He’s got a lot of momentum. The changes he’s made are working and producing fast times. The veterans on the USA National Team know they’ve got some competition from Shane.

Man, this kid has a huge future. Seems to have a great attitude. I’d say he’s about 50/50 to make 2020 team (maybe 75/25 if some of the old vets (e.g. Grevers) can’t get back to PR level). But he should be a big part of the National Team going forward and will be at peak for Paris 2024.
