See the Fresh Ink of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics

Getting the Olympic rings or Paralympic agitos tattooed is a rite of passage for many newly-minted Olympic and Paralympic athletes. Here’s a look at the tattoos from the Tokyo 2020 Games.

At 37 years old, Canada’s Brent Hayden has competed in 4 Olympic Games: 2004, 2008, 2012, and 2020. He adds the years of each Games he competes at to his tattoo.

Paralympian Parker Egbert put his own spin on the Paralympic agitos by incorporating the Japanese video game character Sonic the Hedgehog into his tattoo.

Alberto Mestre marked his Olympic debut for Venezuela with the classic Olympic rings on his bicep.

His family followed suit:

Diver Juan Manuel Celaya Hernandez for Mexico:

USA’s Patrick Callan went for the bicep tattoo and the Netherlands’ Caspar Corbeau marked his Olympic debut on his forearm:

USA’s Jake Mitchell, Hunter Armstrong, Andrew Wilson, and Zach Apple also immortalized their first Olympic Games with fresh ink:

Tattoos don’t look good later in life (think saggy dried up Olympic rings) and the removal is a nightmare. Also there’s a risk of skin burns during an MRI (look it up) Wear an Olympic ring or necklace and skip this damaging trend.

Applause to Ledecky and everyone who didn’t succumb. Big picture clarity above short term conventional wisdom slop.
