SDSU’s Hogue, DU’s Roas Collect Weekly Swimming Awards

South Dakota State’s Wil Hogue and Denver’s Johanna Roas were named The Summit League’s Men’s and Women’s Swimmers of the Week for their performances Oct. 29-Nov.4.

MEN’S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK         
Wil Hogue, South Dakota State
Jr. // Chandler, Ariz.
Hogue earns the second weekly honor of his career and his first Swimmer of the Week award this season after posting a pair of top-two individual finishes, including an event win, at Green Bay.  The Chandler, Ariz., native won the 50 free, touching the wall at 21.07, a mere .01 seconds shy of his season-best time that ranks second in the league.  He also finished runner-up in the 100 free (47.48) and was a member of the second place 200 medley relay (1:34.87) squad.

Also nominated: Matt Abercrombie, Western Illinois.

WOMEN’S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
Johanna Roas, Denver
Fr. // Munich, Germany
Roas claims her first career Swimmer of the Week honor after recording one individual first-place finish and two relay victories to help Denver defeat Air Force, 139-104.  The freshman won the 100 free with a time of 51.73.  She was also a part of the winning 400 free relay (3:29.48) and 400 medley relay (3:50.53) teams.
