Schroeder YMCA Sets National Age Group Record in 200 Free Relay

The 11-12 girls from the Schroeder YMCA in suburban Milwaukee, Wisconsin have set a new 11-12 National Age Group Record in the 200 yard free relay. The time of 1:38.32 was set at the 12 & Under Wisconsin Swimming state championship meet on February 24th at the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center in Brown Deer, Wisconsin.

The team of Sailor Whowell (24.34), Campbell Stoll (24.69), Mariah Reynolds (25.46), and Victoria Brostowitz (23.83) combined to break the old record of 1:38.61 set by NCAP in 2017 at the Junior Olympics. That NCAP relay was a very balanced one, with all 4 swimmers splitting between 24.4 and 24.9 (including two swimmers marking identical 24.61s). This Schroeder relay that broke their record was lifted by a big anchor from Victoria Brostowitz. This marked one of 10 event wins, including 4 relays, in 10 events for her.

Brostowitz Individual Results:

  • 50 fly – 25.48
  • 100 fly – 56.08
  • 200 fly – 2:13.72
  • 50 breast – 29.61
  • 100 breast – 1:06.74
  • 100 IM – 58.29

Her times in the 50 fly, 100 fly, and 50 breaststroke now rank her 2nd nationally in the age group, while the 100 IM mark is the fastest by an 11-12 in the country.

Is Sailor Whowell related to Steele Whowell (I’m not making this up)?

I was a little excited, but her little sister is the team’s biggest cheerleader, just not as loud as me.
