Schiellerup Captures 50 Free National Title in Denmark, 22.12

Freshman Andreas Schiellerup of the NC State swimming & diving team captured the 50 freestyle event on Thursday at the Denmark National Short Course Meter Championships.

A native of Birkerod, Denmark, Schiellerup swam a time of 22.12 to capture the event in the senior final. He was one of 16 swimmers to reach the final, after completing the preliminaries with the fifth fastest time among 64 swimmers at 22.78.

The Denmark National Short Course Meter Championships will continue through Nov. 17.

In his first season competing for the Wolfpack, Schiellerup owns the second fastest time on the squad in the 50 freestyle at 20.50. The first-year student-athlete has also been successful in the 100 backstroke with a top time of 48.04, which meets the required time standard for an NCAA ‘B’ cut.

The Pack will return to competition Nov. 21-23 at the Nike Cup Invitational in nearby Chapel Hill, N.C.
