LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis swimming Head Coach Rory Coleman has announced his 2015-16 team awards. The Red Flash went 8-7 in its meets this season and finished fourth at the NEC Championships.

The MVP award is given each year to the person who the team and coaches deem as the most valuable to the team in and out of the pool. This award will be determined by the number of points scored during the season, team input and coaches’ input.
Lafferty was the NEC Champion in the 500-yard Freestyle, with a school-record time of 4:53.19. The sophomore added two other Top Three finishes at the NEC Championships. Lafferty placed second in the 200-yard Freestyle, with a school-record time of 1:50.00, and third in the 100-yard Freestyle, with a career-best mark of 51.00. A three-time NEC swimmer of the week, Lafferty combined with Mary Kish (Glendale, Ariz./Bourgade Catholic), Catherine Rogers (Nokesville, Va./Seton School) and Alicia Tiberino (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) for a second-place finish in the 200-yard Freestyle Relay at the NEC Championships, with a pace of 1:34.00, the top time in program history. |

The Coaches’ Award is decided on by the coaches and given to a person who most positively helps the team in and out of the pool.
McLean earned a pair of Top 10 finishes at the NEC Championships. The junior finished fifth in the 1,650-yard Freestyle, with a time of 17:34.94. She also placed seventh in the 400-yard IM, with a mark of 4:34.04. McLean also took 13th place in the 500-yard Freestyle, with a pace of 5:05.32. She teamed up with Lafferty, Jessie Reilly (Pittsburgh, Pa. /Upper St. Clair) and Catherine Rogers (Nokesville, Va./Seton School) for a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard Medley Relay, with a time of 1:43.42, which ranks third in program history. |

In the spirit of our most famous athletic alumni and the story of Maurice Stokes and Jack Twyman, the teammate of the year award recognizes the team’s “ideal teammate” who exemplifies selflessness, commitment and dedication to her team in and out of the pool. This award is determined by a team vote.
Dieterich claimed two Top 10 finishes at the NEC Championships. She finished sixth in the 100-yard Backstroke, with a time of 58.06, and 10th in the 200-yard Backstroke, with a mark of 2:05.10. Dieterich earned four Top Three finishes in the 100-yard Backstroke and two Top Three finishes in the 200-yard Backstroke this season. |
 Most Improved: Mary Kish (Glendale, Ariz./Bourgade Catholic) |
The Most Improved Swimmer Award is given to the swimmer who has the most significant time drops during the season. This award will focus on upperclassmen who have previously been a member of the team. This award will be determined by amount of time dropped during the season, team input and coaches’ input.
Kish earned three Top 10 placements at the NEC Championships. The sophomore finished third in the 200-yard Breaststroke, with a time of 2:16.56, which ranks second in program history. She also placed seventh in the 100-yard Butterfly, with a pace of 56.34, which ranks fourth in program history. Kish finished seventh in the 100-yard Breaststroke, with a mark of 1:03.90, which ranks third in program history. Her times in all three events were career-bests. Kish combined with Lafferty, Rogers and Tiberino for a program-record time of 1:34.00 in the 200-yard Freestyle Relay, which helped the Red Flash to finish second in the event. |

The Rookie of the Year Award is given to the freshman who accumulates the most points in a season.
Daly placed 13th in three different events at the NEC Championships, accounting for team points in all three events. The freshman finished the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:09.26 and the 400-yard IM with a pace of 4:34.81. She also placed 13th in the 200-yard Backstroke, with a mark of 2:08.54, which ranks sixth in program history. |
