Rutgers to Host Coaches Swimposium

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers swimming and diving will host a free admission Coaches Swimposium on Sunday, June 17 at the Recruiting Pavilion at High Point Solutions Stadium from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., featuring presentations by high-profile mentors and Rutgers support staff.

Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from giants in the world of swimming, including David Marsh, the head women’s swimming coach for Team USA at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Also speaking at the Swimposium are USA National Team Coach and five-time NCAA Coach of the Year Jeff Dugdale, and Head Open Water Coach for the Swedish Swimming Federation, Mikael Rosen.

Rutgers support staff will also be on deck to present on meet day nutrition, NCAA compliance and recruiting rules, and strength training for sprinters. Rutgers head coach Jon Maccoll will present on distance training. The event is free of charge. Register here.

About the Presenters
David Marsh |  A top-level coach of elite swimmers for over 30 years who guided the 2016 U.S. Women’s Olympic Team to 16 medals, Marsh was named the new head coach of the University of California San Diego men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs in 2017. Marsh led the women of Team USA to unprecedented success at the 2016 Rio Olympics, with a final medal haul of eight gold, four silver and four bronze. That contingent featured the likes of Katie Ledecky, Simone Manuel, Maya DiRado and Lilly King.

Jeff Dugdale | A USA National Team coach, five-time NCAA Coach of the Year, and six-time Bluegrass Mountain Conference Coach of the Year, Dugdale guided Queens University of Charlotte to a fourth consecutive NCAA Division II championship in 2017-18.

Mikael Rosén | The head coach of the Swedish National Team since 2013, Rosen is one of the world’s experts on open water swimming. He will speak on swimmers’ training and racing on the international scene. He will also talk about Swim Run, the fastest-rising sport in the world, and describe how Sweden developed from 1,000 open water swimmers to 25,000 in 20 years. Rosén is an alumni of UNLV, an instagrammer on @human_ambition and author of the book Open Water to be released in English on Chronicle Books.

Jon Maccoll | Named the head coach of Rutgers swimming in 2017, Maccoll promptly guided the Scarlet Knights to six school records and 22 new entries to RU’s all-time Top 10 performances list. Rutgers tied its highest finish at the Big Ten Championships, and sent two swimmers to the NCAA Championships in back-to-back years for the first time since 2007 and 2008.
