Rutgers swimming and diving wrapped a successful weekend at the Frank Elm Invitational by claiming second place hardware on Sunday and honoring junior Vera Koprivovaas the Invitational MVP for scoring the most points over the three-day meet at Rutgers Aquatic Center.

The Scarlet Knights compiled 1,447.5 points for the runner-up finish out of 14 teams, their best placing at their home invitational since 2015. Navy won the Frank Elm Invitational for the third consecutive year with 1,648 points, while Columbia (1,229.5), Northeastern (1,160.5) and James Madison (763).

Koprivova claimed the MVP plaque with 107 points, just barely edging teammate and sophomore Federica Greco, who had 106 points, for the individual honor.

Consistent and sustained effort was the theme for the Scarlet Knights over the weekend, which was capped by three event wins and three more NCAA B-Cut times on the final day of competition. Koprivova won the 200-yard backstroke in a B-Cut time of 1:56.26, junior Francesca Stoppa out-touched the field in the 200-yard butterfly in a B-Cut time of 1:57.21, and sophomore Francesca Bertotto claimed the 1,650-mile freestyle in 16:35.54, entering her in the program’s Top 10 all-time performances in the event at No. 3.

Senior captain Larissa Neilan posted an NCAA B-Cut of 2:15.31 in the Sunday morning 200-yard breaststroke prelims before taking second place in the A Final during the evening session. Sophomore Clare Lawlor also posted a second place finish in a Sunday A Final, touching in at 50.37 seconds in the 100-yard freestyle. Lawlor placed fourth in the individual score rankings with 94 points throughout the weekend, while Neilan was 10th with 79.

Senior Addison Walkowiak posted her first platform diving score of the season and placed second with a 257.95. With a win on the 3-meter and runner-up finishes on the 1-meter and platform, Walkowiak posted 88 points to rank sixth among all competitors at the invitational.

The Scarlet Knights lowered their swimming time standards and increased diving standards in every single event throughout the weekend. Sunday also saw A Finalists in sophomore Alexandra Fabugais-Inaba (6th – 100 Free), freshman Delaney Carey (3rd – 200 Breast) and Greco (2nd – 200 Fly). Carey entered the Top 10 in program history with her 2:18.07 in the 200 Breast, good for No. 10 on the all-time list.

The meet closed with the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Lawlor, Fabugais-Inaba, senior Karli Rymer and sophomore Meghan Mosesbettering their best time of the season by 6.5 seconds, placing third in 3:22.92.

Rutgers returns to the pool for the Texas Invitational from Nov. 29 – Dec. 2.
