Russian Olympic Team Captain Participates in First Athlete Forum

Russian Olympic team captain and Olympic silver medalist Anastasia Fesikova participated in the Russia’s first National Forum of athletes. The forum was attended by about 50 delegates from the Federation of Olympic Sports.

At the meeting held on November 17th, elections were held for new members of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC). It was decided the the new Committee would be lead by Olympic fencing champion Sofia Velikaya. Pentathlete Andrei Moiseev and volleyball player Ekaterina Gamow will both serve as Vice President for the next four years. Further, it was decided that the committee will also include Olga Zaitseva, Fedor Klimov, Lada Zadonskaya, Svetlana Romashina, Yuriy Borzakovskiy, Tagir Khaibulaev and Anastasia Myskina.

Additionally, pole vaulter Yelena Isinbayeva was selected as Russia’s International Olympic Committee representative were selected. The Russian Paralympic Committee delegated Paralympic swimmer Andrew Strokina to be a Russian representative in the International Olympic Committee as well. The names of three additional athletes who will be apart of the IOC, on the recommendation of ROC president Alexander Zhukov and the Commission of the European Olympic Committee (EOC) will be announced later.
