Here’s a rapid-fire look at some of the more notable districts:

Buchholz Girls win 8 events in 4A District 1 rout

The girls of Buchholz High won 8 of 12 events to blow out District 1 in Class 4A, for the state’s biggest schools. The Buchholz girls swept all three relays, including an All-American Consideration time in the 200 free relay. Sophomore Kirschtine Balbuena was the key force, sweeping the 200 free (1:54.56) and 100 back (57.57) while leading off both winning free relays.

Meanwhile the boys of Fletcher High picked up the win, led by sprint victories from Gavin Jones, who was 21.00 in the 50 and 46.21 in the 100.

Riverview Tops Fast 4A District 6

The biggest fireworks of the weekend came in District 6 of Class 4A, where Riverview took home both titles. The Riverview boys are the defending state champs, and got two wins from junior Austin Katz. He was 1:40.96 to win the 200 free, and maybe came up with the swim of the meet with a 50.58 in the 100 back.

Their closest challengers were Countryside, which got a big 49.39 100 fly win from senior Noah Lense.

St. Petersburg’s girls got two big wins from distance freestyler Peyton Palsha, who was 1:50.80 in the 200 and 4:54.34 in the 500. She’s a junior.
