Rio Torch Relay Day 93: Torch Passes Through Rio de Janeiro

On each day of the official Olympic torch relay, carrying the Olympic flame to the Olympic cauldron in Rio de Janeiro, the Rio2016 Facbeook page is posting brilliant and spectacular images from one of the world’s unique and most beautiful landscapes. Each day until August 5th, we will bring you these stunning images.

With the Rio Opening Ceremonies just a day away, the Olympic torch relay is on it’s final legs. The relay, which culminates with the lighting of the Olympic flame during the Opening Ceremonies, will have totalled 95 days on the road and over 200 cities seen when all is said and done.

The torch got it’s first glimpse of the host city on day 93, passing through Rio before travelling through five other cities. The torch will return to Rio on Friday.

The other cities visited were Duque de Caxias, São João Meriti, Nilópolis, Belford Roxo, and Nova Iguaçu.
