Registration Open for USA Swimming Foundation Make a Splash Regional Summit

As part of the USA Swimming Foundation’s ongoing commitment to save lives through swim lessons, the organization will host a Make a Splash Regional Summit to emphasize the importance of learning to swim and how to make a bigger community impact.

Held on Monday, March 7 in San Diego, California, during the Association of Aquatic Professionals Annual Conference, the Summit’s speakers will focus on building new partnerships and engaging through social media. Summit attendees include representatives from regional swim lesson providers, Make a Splash local partners and USA Swimming Foundation Affiliate Coalition members.

Some of the sessions in the Summit will include:

· “Transforming a Community through Youth Sports” with Joel Lopez, Coach of the McFarland Cross Country Team that Inspired Disney Film, McFarland USA.

· “Developing Partnerships to Promote Youth and Community Health and Safety” with Lauren Fraga, Program Manager, John Wayne Cancer Foundation (JWCF)

· “Social Media Best Practices” with Berna Anat, Community Team Producer at Instagram

“The Summit is a resource for our Make a Splash Local Partners and the entire swimming community to gain more information about the services available to them,” said Tina Dessert, Make a Splash Program Manager. “It’s also a great educational opportunity for them to learn new concepts that they can apply in their local programs.” The USA Swimming Foundation’s Make a Splash initiative is a water safety campaign that partners with learn-to-swim providers and water safety advocates to provide swimming lessons and educate children and their families on the importance of learning how to swim.

More than 3.8 million children have received swim lessons from Make a Splash local partners and the USA Swimming Foundation has awarded more than $3.7 million to provide grants to Local Make a Splash Partner programs to spread national awareness and reduce drowning rates among children.
