Reese Lamph from Sandpipers of Nevada Gives Verbal to Houston

Reese Lamph, a distance freestyler from Las Vegas, Nevada, has made a verbal commitment to the University of Houston for the 2017-18 season. Lamph is a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American from Palo Verde High School. She earned a pair of fourth-place finishes in the 200 free and 500 free at last spring’s Nevada High School Division I Championships.

Lamph swims year-round for Sandpipers of Nevada. She had an outstanding junior year and just missed qualifying for U.S. Olympic Trials. Lamph did, however, earn Winter Nationals cuts in the 400/800/1500 freestyles with some big drops over the summer. Her best events in SCY are:

  • 1650 free – 16:55.92
  • 1000 free – 9:59.96
  • 500 free – 4.56.01
  • 200 free – 1:52.78

Lamph will bring immediate firepower to the Cougars’ lineup next fall. She would have scored fifth in the 1650 free at AAC Championships this past February, and she would have made top 8 in the 500 free.

The Cougars have been quite busy putting together a stellar class of verbal recruits for the 2021 graduating class:in addition to Lamph, there’s Becca Cox, Katie Higgins, Montana Lloyd, Mykenzie Leehy, Sam Medlin, and Victoria Tillman.
