Rachel Rodriguez to Leave Arkansas and Swim at TCU as Graduate Transfer

San Antonio, Texas native Rachel Rodriguez has announced her intention to finish her last two years of NCAA eligibility at Texas Christian University, after having spent three years at the University of Arkansas. Technically a junior, she will graduate from Arkansas this summer and swim at TCU while pursuing a Master of Science in Criminology.

At Ronald Reagan High School, she placed 6th in the 500 free (4:55.03) at the UIL Texas 6A State Championships in 2018. She notched PBs in the 1000 free (10:11.79) and 1650 free (17:14.28) at 2017 College Station Sectionals and went 2:01.06 in the 200 back at TISCA Championships. In the spring of her senior year, she earned PBs in the 50 back (27.67) and 1000 free (10:07.02) at NCSAs.

While at Arkansas, Rodriguez improved her times in the 500 free (-1.9 seconds) at the Mizzou Invite her freshman year and in the 1650 free (-20 seconds) and 200 back (-1 second) at 2020 SEC Championships as a sophomore. At the 2020 Mizzou Invite, she went 4:56.99 in the 500 free, 17:00.97 in the mile, and 2:02.07 in the 200 back.

Rodriguez will join a TCU distance group that includes Abigail Meder (4:54.10/17:02.10 last season), Audrey McMurry (4:56.62), Cayla Prophater (4:57.71/17:16.62), Emma Hultquist (4:59.95), and Lisa Johnson (5:00.05/17:04.32).

They don’t want to put in the work so they bring in foreigners and transfers. Look at his staff…

Just think it’s a rare opportunity that Arkansas has given schools, with 12+ of their swimmers choosing to go into the transfer portal ..why not take advantage of that? TCU now has 4 ex Razorbacks on their squad

Why does TCU continue to go back to the transfer well? Doesn’t seem as if they’ve gotten much return on their investment.
