Quinlan Stuart Verbally Commits to NC State Wolfpack

Quinlan Stuart from the Denver Swim Academy has verbally committed to the North Carolina State Wolfpack. There, he will join his older brother Hennessey Stuart, who is in the midst of his freshman season with the Wolfpack.

Quinlan is versatile like his brother, but isn’t quite as good of a backstroker and is a better breaststroker. The 100 breaststroke is Quinlan’s primary event, and he has a Winter Junior Nationals qualifying time of 57.20.

All of Stuart’s best times in yards:

  • 50 free – 22.28
  • 100 free – 49.32
  • 100 back – 51.92
  • 100 breast – 57.20
  • 100 fly – 53.34
  • 200 IM – 1:52.05

The Wolfpack did have a bit of a breaststroke problem coming into this season, though sophomore Derek Hren has had a great start to his season to correct that at the top-end, at least. He currently ranks 3rd in the ACC in the 100 (54.50) and 7th in the 200 (2:01.22).

There’s still a major issue of depth, however, and Stuart will help with that issue in the long-term.

During the high school season, Quinlan Stuart represents 5A powerhouse Regis Jesuit, who are the defending state champions.

The Stuart boys are not only outstanding athletes, they are of the highest moral character of any kids I’ve ever met. The Wolfpack is lucky to have them both – we’ll be cheering from Colorado!

Matt, you beat me to the punch! Those were my thoughts as well. He is really establishing his reputation. Do you think other schools will be scared to approach him?

Ha! You make it sound like the guy is Ray Rice or something. I would assume other schools would want him, unless there is something I don’t know about.

Gotta say, I’m impressed with NC State’s recruiting. I actually never heard of NC State before Braden Holloway got there. Now they are getting kids from Colorado!? Wow, I bet we see Braden Holloway at a real school soon.

Hey Matt,
Sounds like you need some real schooling on State.

Hey, I congratulate the kid too. State is on the rise and it’s a great decision. Just saying that I honestly never heard of NC State until recently. I could not tell you where it is, what their mascot is, or anyone noteworthy that went there. When I think of North Carolina, only Duke and UNC come to mind. But, hey, you have to start somewhere.

No harm intended in my comment. NC State is a great ACC school in Raleigh and provides a top notch education especially in engineering. Braden was an All American backstroker there, and I believe he is there for the long haul. He and his coaches have done amazing things since they took over. Put them on your radar for conferences and NCAA. Go Pack!

Cullen Jones went there. They also have (3) NFL starting QBs. Phillip Rivers, Russell Wilson and Mike Glennon.

Ever heard of Jim Valvano (Jimmy V).

Anyway, NC State is located in a state called, North Carolina. This team has had swimmers from Colorado before. Not positive, but they have won more ACC Championships in Men’s Swimming than any other program (UVA, may be ahead of them, but I’m not sure).

NCSU is a real school, Braden Holloway went to school there. So he won’t be leaving.

For the record, they destroyed UNC and DUKE in swimming last year, so this isn’t a coming out party for them.

Sounds like a great program. We just don’t hear much about it in the West. Braden is a great coach, and from what I hear a great guy. They are rising faster than anyone.

Wow, nice work Braden! You seem to really be beating all of these other schools to the top recruits. Reminds me of college where you beat all of the other swimmers in your races! The Wolfpack is really coming on strong as of late!!
