Quickly-improving Alyssa Heffelfinger Verbally Commits to Army West Point

Alyssa Heffelfinger from Waxhaw, North Carolina has announced her verbal commitment to the class of 2026 of the United States Military Academy at West Point.

“I am extremely excited and honored to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career to the United States Military Academy at West Point. Thank you to my family, friends, and coaches who have helped me get to this point. GO ARMY, BEAT NAVY!!!”

Heffelfinger, who specializes in mid-distance free, back, and IM, is junior at Cuthbertson High School. She scored in the top 8 in both the 200 free (1:55.38) and 500 free (5:00.88) at the 2021 North Carolina High School 3A State Championships, contributing to Cuthbertson’s fourth-place team finish.

Heffelfinger does her club swimming with Mecklenburg Swim Association. Since the beginning of 2021, she has gone lifetime-best times in the 200/500/1000/1650 free, 100/200 back, and 200/400 IM as well as the LCM 100 back. Most of those times she achieved at the North Carolina LSC Senior Short Course Championships where she placed 3rd in the 400 IM, 4th in the 500 and 1000 free, 5th in the mile, and 7th in the 100 and 200 back. At the South Carolina Swim Club’s MOC Championship Final in March, she dropped 6 seconds off her previous best time in the 100 meter backstroke, going 1:06.89 to secure a Futures cut.

Couldn’t be more proud to see this girl accomplishing her dreams, for life after high school. Her Mom and Dad have done an outstanding job guiding their daughters onto the paths of Life, they belong on. So, big Congrats to ALYSSA on this next big step into her future.
