Quarantine Complete, Aussie Olympic Swimmers Reunite With Family

Due to Australia’s coronavirus protocol for incoming travelers, the nation’s Olympic swimmers spent 14 days in quarantine after having produced their most successful swimming medal haul at an Olympic Games.

Now after having spent two weeks under lockdown in Howard Springs, Northern Territory, the Australian swimming Olympians are returning home to celebrate with family and friends.

“It’s been two months, six weeks in the bubble so I’m very, very happy to be back,” golden girl Ariarne Titmus told The Sydney Morning Herald.

Emma McKeon said, “To see my family is just unreal and being in quarantine for two weeks, it’s all you look forward to,” McKeown said. “It’s been a surreal experience.”

Among the multitude of achievements for Australia in the pool, 27-year-old McKeon became the first Australian ever to win four golds at a single Olympic Games. She took the 50m free and 100m free double and also snagged 400m free relay and 400m medley relay gold along with 100m fly bronze.

Zac Stubblety-Cook topped the men’s 200m breaststroke podium while Titmus thrilled in the 200m and 400m free events, taking the top prize in both. Backstroking ace Kaylee McKeown was also golden on two separate individual occasions, topping the 100m and 200m events of her signature discipline.

Below are some social media posts from the homecoming event.

The fact that throssel ended up getting a gold medal for the 4×1 medley anyway just makes me even more angry about the 4×2.

Rufus Throssell. Rufus is a dog but I’ve given him a capital letter something you could not do for Brianna cos you mad.

Yes. I absolutely am mad. That relay makes me feel physically ill. Probably the worst choke by an Australian sports team possibly ever.

Yep. I try not to think about it. Would have been 10 Gold for Australia.

Yeah. He and Larkin were the only chokes this time. First time the US had more chokes than Australia.

Beijing 2008? Pretty sure America had a few chokes in the women’s side there.

They could have won all the golds if everyone swam slower

Did Merdes Benz give Kaylee a car? I feel like that’s what the post implies? You wouldn’t tag the dealer if you just bought a car from them, would you?

Probably a short-time sponsorship deal where she has use of one of their models they’re seeking to promote ….. and she does certain promotional/advertising for that dealership. Not uncommon.

But if it’s “gift wrapped” and everything could be more

Learning that Kaylee McKeown is a dachshund person makes her that much more endearing. And in a classic daschsund move, it’s trying to lick her sister’s nose through her mask.
