Reagan Mattice of Zionsville, Indiana and Grace Lux of Fortville, Indiana have announced their verbal commitments to in-state Purdue as members of their class of 2022.
Mattice made her announcement on her Instagram page, writing, “I am extremely humbled and excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and swimming career at Purdue University! Thank you to my friends, family, and coaches who made this possible. Boiler up!!!”
Mattice swims for Zionsville Swim Club, where she is a USA Swimming Futures qualifier. Specializing in the sprint and mid-distance freestyle events, Mattice most recently competed at the Indiana Senior Long Course Championships, where she was a finalist in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 800 freestyle, and 200 IM. Her highest finish came in the 50 freestyle, where she finished 12th overall in a time of 27.60.

- 100 free – 51.85
- 200 free – 1:54.14
- 500 free – 5:01.48
With her best time in the 50 freestyle, Mattice would have ranked 9th on Purdue’s roster last season, while her best time in the 100 free would have ranked her 7th. Although she is still slightly off of what it took to score at the 2021 Big 10 Championships, (22.33/50.33), Mattice has a full year left to improve her times before arriving on campus.
Lux also made the announcement on her Instagram account:
“I’m extremely excited and grateful to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and swimming career at Purdue University. I’d like to thank my family, friends, FAST teammates and coaches and the wonderful team and staff at Purdue for making this all possible. I can’t wait to be a Boilermaker!”
Lux is a breaststroker who swims for the Fishers Area Swim Team and attends Fishers High School. Like Mattice, Lux also holds several USA Futures cuts and holds a USA Junior National’s cut in the 100 breaststroke LCM.
Lux is currently competing at the USA Swimming Summer Championships in Greensboro, where she is yet to log her first swim. She also recently competed at the Huntsville Futures Championships, where she posted best times in the 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke LCM.

- 100 Breaststroke – 1:03.35
- 200 breaststroke – 2:21.99
- 200 IM – 2:05.56
With her best times, Lux would have ranked 4th on Purdue’s roster last season in the 100 breaststroke, while her best time in the 200 breast would have ranked 3rd. Only 2 swimmers registered swims for Purdue in the 200 breast last season, meaning that Lux will provide the women with some much-needed depth in that area. In fact, Lux’s best time in the 100 breaststroke is only about a second off of what it took to final in the event at the 2021 Big 10 Championships.
At the 2021 Big Ten Championships, the Purdue women placed 9th overall with a total of 414 points. In the sprint freestyle events, they were led by Claire Abbasse, who placed 38th overall in the 50 freestyle and 34th overall in the 100 free. Abbassee also posted times of 23.25 and 50.13 leading off Purdue’s relays at the meet. In the breaststroke events, the Purdue women were led by Masy Folcik, who placed 20th overall in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke, with personal best times of 1:01.70 and 2:14.87, respectively.
Mattice and Lux will join Ana Rojas in Purdue’s class of 2026.
