Mikolaj Synowiec from Olkusz, Poland has signed a letter of intent to swim for Bethel University beginning next fall.
A distance freestyle and IM specialist, Synowiec trains with UKS SMS Galicja Krakow. He competed at the Polish Junior Club Championships (50M) in February 2021 and recorded top ten finishes in the 200 IM (6th with 2:16.14), 800 free (6th with 8:45.63), and 400 IM (7th with 4:45.43).
In April, he swam at the Polish National Championships and recorded lifetime bests in the 400 free (4:09.99) and 800 free (8:39.48).

Bethel University, located in McKenzie, Tennessee, competes in the Mid-South Conference of the NAIA. Synowiec is a huge addition to the Wildcats’ roster. His converted times would have scored in the top-8 of the 1650 free, the A final of the 200 free, and the B final of the 500 free at the 2019 NAIA National Championships. He also would have been a welcome addition to Bethel’s relays.
Head coach Alec Meddings commented, “This year just keeps getting better and better. We are super excited to add this incredible young man from Poland. He brings nothing but the best and will show it this upcoming year. Mikolaj is an incredible addition to the Bethel family.”
