FLORIDA LAST CHANCE MEET

The 2015 “Last Chance Meet,” taking place in Gainesville at the University of Florida this weekend, is one final chance to qualify for the 2015 NCAA Champs.

While swimmers racked up plenty of ‘B’ cuts, there was only one swimmer who bettered one of last year’s invited times, and that was Florida State junior Samantha Pochowski in the 100 breaststroke. She dipped under last year’s invited time of 1:00.78 by the slimmest of margins, posting a 1:00.77, which is tied for the 39th fastest time in the country based on USA Swimming’s top times database. Pochowski neared her personal best (1:00.67 from last March) and notched a season best with this swim.

Based on last year’s times, this swim would have just barely put her into the meet. The invited time in 2014 was a touch slower than 2013’s, so if this year is the same or even slower than last year, Pochowski might have just punched herself a ticket to the NCAAs.

Full results from this morning’s prelims session, which ran through the 50 free, 500 free, and 200 IM, are available here.
