Phoenix Swim Club’s Allison Winter Signs with Boston University

Allison Winter has signed an NLI to swim for Boston University beginning with the 2015-16 season. Winter is a senior at Phoenix Country Day High School and trains under head coach Garrett McCaffrey at Phoenix Swim Club.

Winter helped the Phoenix Country Day girls’ team to a tenth-place finish at the Arizona State Division 2 Swimming & Diving Championships last month, contributing a fifth in the 100 fly (59.65) and second in the 100 back (58.30). It was her second straight year in the silver-medal position. Winter also swam fly (26.95) on Phoenix Country Day’s 200 medley relay and led off (55.08) their 400 free relay.

Winter’s best SCY times over the last two years are:

50y back: 27.74
100y back: 58.04
200y back: 2:05.93
100y free: 53.98
200y free: 1:53.77
200y IM: 2:09.55

With only two heats of finals, the Patriot League is a very competitive conference championship. Nevertheless, Winter is close to scoring position in several events already. Given the improvement she has made over the last year in both short course and long course events, Winter should be a real asset to the Terriers from her first days in uniform.
