Penn State Women Score 1st 2023 Verbal from 1:01/2:14 Breaststroker Sienna Karp

Sienna Karp from Bethesda, Maryland, has verbally committed to Pennsylvania State University. She is the Nittany Lions’ first commit to the women’s class of 2027, and joins Cooper Morley, their first verbal for the men’s squad.

Karp is a junior at Walter Johnson High School in Bethesda. She placed third in the 100 back and fourth in the 100 fly as a freshman in 2020 at the Maryland 4A3A State Swimming and Diving Championships. In club swimming, she represents All Star Aquatics and specializes mainly in breaststroke and IM. She updated all her times in December at the RMSC Holiday Invitational, where she won the 100 breast, 200 breast, and 200 IM, and placed 4th in the 100 fly and 10th in the 100 back. All but the 100 back were lifetime bests, and she threw in PBs in the 50/200 free leading off ASA relays.

Karp is a versatile talent but should bring energy to the breast/IM group at Penn State. She will overlap with Kylie Rydland, Abby Henderson, Lizzie Danforth, and Marly Lough. Her best times would already score in the B final of the 200 breast and the C finals of the 100 breast and 400 IM at the Big Ten Championships.
