Patrick Lance, Alana Cartwright Commit To Cleveland State

The Cleveland State men and women have each added a new member to their recruiting class, as Patrick Lance and Alana Cartwright have given their verbal commitments to join the Vikings next season. Cartwright will be staying in her native state of Ohio, while Lance will be traveling to CSU from Pennsylvania.

Cartwright is a swimmer for the Lake Shore Swim Club and a senior at Magnificat High School. Last season, she competed in the 100 breast and 200 IM at the 2016 Ohio State Championships. Her highest finish there came in the 100 breast, where she was 12th in a personal best 1:05.55.

Cartwright’s Top Times:

  • 100 breast- 1:05.55
  • 200 breast- 2:30.59
  • 100 free- 53.74
  • 100 fly- 57.59
  • 200 IM- 2:13.68

Cartwright then went on to compete in the 2016 Dolfin Junior National Championship Cup. At that meet, she swam new personal best times in the 100 free (53.74) and 200 IM (2:13.68). In the 50 fly, she qualified for the C-final, placing 20th overall.

PATRICK LANCE

Lance is a swmmer for the Boyertown YMCA Navy Seals, and is currently a senior at Boyertown Area Senior High School in Pennsylvania. He’ll be joining a Cleveland State men’s team that finished 2nd at last season’s Horizon league Championships.

Lance’s Top Times:

  • 100 fly- 50.68
  • 200 fly- 1:57.30
  • 50 free- 21.65
  • 100 free- 47.54
  • 200 free- 1:43.28

Last season, Lance competed at the short and long course version of the YMCA National Championships. At the yards meet, he was among the top 25 swimmers in the 100 fly after clocking personal best 50.68. He also swam best times in the 50 free (21.65), 100 free (47.54), and 200 free (1:43.28) at that meet.
