And on the final night in Topeka of the 2012 Missouri Valley Swimming Division I Championships, Michael Andrew broke his 3rd different National Age Group Record of the meet.

This one came in the 50 fly, where he swam a 23.65 to win the race. That broke his record that he set in prelims on Sunday morning at 23.70. The old mark of 24.05 also belonged to Andrew, and it was set in late 2011.

He also swam lifetime bests in the finals of the 200 free (1:48.51) and the 100 back (54.87).

In total, he had four record-breaking swims in three different events at this meet. Andrew will be back in the pool next weekend looking for more records, in one of his last opportunities to break an 11-12 record.

Also in this meet, he broke a handful of 11-12 Missouri Valley Swimming Records. The majority of those were his own records, but his 50 back also took down the mark set by Christian Shaver last November. There’s now only one LSC record that he doesn’t have – and that’s the 500 free record of 4:55.25 set by Max Jaben back in 1998. Jaben would later earn an Olympic spot swimming for Israel, though a failed drug test would keep him out of the meet.
