Olympic Icon Aaron Peirsol Breaks Down Arena Shark Tank at the Arena Grand Prix (Video)

Olympic champion, Aaron Peirol, is an Arena Ambassador. Peirsol works with Arena USA to promote the sport at the grassroots level.  He and Olympic peer, Matt McClean, along with Rowdy Gaines, hosted an event to engage youth swimmers from the Austin area.  See the press release below, courtesy of Arena USA.

Twenty Four Youth Swimmers from Longhorn Aquatics will have the experience of a lifetime tonight, swimming alongside 7-time Olympic medalist and University of Texas grad, Aaron Peirsol and 2012 gold medalist Matt McLean. The event is held in conjunction with the annual Arena Grand Prix at Austin, an elite-level swim meet starring top U.S. and foreign swimmers. The special youth event is the third-ever “Arena Grand PrixView Featuring Aaron Peirsol,” a series created by swimsuit company Arena to inspire youth swimmers.

Fans attending tonight’s are asked to arrive 30-minutes early to witness the Arena Grand PrixView, featuring Aaron Peirsol and special guest Matt McLean. This special and inspirational event will showcase the two gold medalists swimming alongside 24 children from Longhorn Aquatics swim club in a once-in-a-lifetime event for the kids. The Grand PrixView will be emceed by NBC’s voice of swimming and three-time Olympic gold medalist Rowdy Gaines. In addition, McLean and Peirsol will speak to the kids prior to the relay, beginning at 4:45pm.

The meet is being held at the Lee & Joe Jamail Aquatics Center at the University of Texas concluding Sunday, Jan. 19. Prelims begin at 9 a.m. CT followed by finals at 6 p.m. CT. Tickets are required for all sessions and can be purchased at www.universityoftexas.edu/longhornaquatics/store.html, or at the Swim Center Store at the Aquatic Center.

The Arena Grand Prix Series consists of six meets around the nation. The 2014 schedule is as follows:

Arena Grand Prix at Charlotte                   May 15-18
