Olympic Finalist Pinto Scratches 800 Free on Day 6 of Worlds

2017 FINA WORLD SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS

Swimmers are gearing up for day 6 finals of the 2017 FINA World Championships in Budapest, Hungary. This morning, we’ll see the top swimmers in the world compete in prelims of the men’s 50 free, women’s 50 fly, men’s 100 fly, women’s 200 back, women’s 800 free, and men’s 4×200 freestyle relay.

One of the only major scratches for day 6 prelims came from Venezuala’s Andreina Pinto, who was the 10th seed in the 800 free. Pinto, who now trains with Metro Aquatic Club, is the Venezuelan Record holder and was a finalist in the event at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Iceland’s Eyglo Gustafsdottir was another scratch out of the top 30 seeds for the women. She had the 12th fastest seed time in the 200 back with a 2:08.84, but has opted out of this morning’s prelims in that event.
