Olympic Champion Cullen Jones will use Mare Nostrum to test his nitro

Men’s 50 freestyle – 2014 Arena Grand Prix in Charlotte – Reported by SwimSwam

Josh Schneider stepped up to win the 50 freestyle, swimming a 22.17, which ties him for 19th in the world this year. Bruno Fratus reached in for second place at 22.27, followed by Kristian Gkolomeev at 22.38. Anthony Ervin and Cullen Jones both dropped a few tenths from their morning swims to finish 4th and 5th at 22.49 and 22.81, respectively. Ali Khalafalla was the only other swimmer to break 23, finishing in 6th at 22.93. Paul Powers won the B-final of the men’s 50 freestyle with a time of 23.18.

Cullen is a great swimmer and a wonderful speaker. My kids and I were fortunate to hear him speak at a Drowning Prevention workshop. We learnt from him and his stories were hysterical. Wish him all the best.
