Olympian Connor Jaeger Featured in Swimming Documentary “The Water Is My Sky”

West Middle Productions, LLC, announced today that 2012 Olympian and three-time individual NCAA champion Connor Jaeger will be featured in their forthcoming swimming documentary, “The Water Is My Sky.” The documentary, which is currently in production, is seeking to provide an inside-look into the world of elite competitive swimming.  Jaeger, who just wrapped up his senior season at the University of Michigan, will be offering a glimpse into the world of professional swimming as he trains toward the 2016 Olympics in Rio.

Jaeger will be joining several others in the documentary, including 2000 Olympic bronze medalist Tom Wilkens. Wilkens and Jaeger grew up in the same town of Middletown, NJ, and Jaeger can distinctly remember being inspired by Wilkens as a kid during the Sydney games. The two have since connected on a personal level and are able share a strikingly similar story reflecting the struggles and triumphs of the common swimmer.

The film will also feature appearances by several other prominent members of the swimming community, including Rowdy Gaines, Michael McBroom, Matt Grevers, Connor Dwyer, and many more.

WMP has been filming “The Water Is My Sky” for over a year and plan to continue filming throughout 2014. On April 14 the company is launching a fundraising campaign on Kickstarter which will help finish the production.

Looking forward to this documentary; really don’t think that most of the public truly understands the commitment made by elite swimmers to their sport. Even 50+ years ago, swam three or even four times a day to prepare for the Olympic Trials!

Good to see more interest in swimming documentaries – swimming is a sport that needs a good film or two about what it takes to be an elite swimmer.

For those of you curious, Touch the Wall – a film that follows Missy Franklin and Kara Lynn Joyce in their journey to the London Olympics – will be premiering in the Fall.

We wish the producers of The Water is My Sky luck in their quest to shed light on the sport of elite competitive swimming.

not to sound like a debbie downer…but when is touch the wall coming out. I remember during the olympics I saw the trailer and was so excited. It’s been a long time…

but this looks really good. I love how many swimmers are featured. It’ll be great to build momentum and hopefully create some buzz for these athletes that will allow them to benefit financially as well.

This could be really good or really bad depending on the way that it’s shot. There’s a lot of people out there who don’t understand that swimming is a sport that is done year round and isn’t just limited to being seen every four years during the Summer Olympics. If they can get some bigger names in the sport, then it will be very good.
