Ohio University Gets Verbal from Butterfly/Freestyle Specialist Brittany Creasy

Brittany Creasy, a senior at Creekview High School in Canton, Georgia, has made a verbal commitment to swim for Ohio University next fall.

Creasy is a talented freestyler and butterflier who trains with SwimAtlanta. She is a four-time Georgia State High School 1A-5A (Small Schools) Championship finalist. In 2014 she was second in the 200 free (1:50.52) and fourth in the 100 fly (55.73). The previous year she took 14th in the 200 IM and 13th in the 500 free.

Creasy had an outstanding long course season, improving her 100 fly by 1.4 seconds and her 200 free by 2.5 seconds. She finaled in all her individual events at the Georgia Long Course Senior State Meet, including a fifth-place finish in both the 200 and 400 free and sixth in the 100 fly.

Her most recent times include:

200y free: 1:50.52 200m free: 2:05.74
100y fly: 55.73 100m fly 1:03.45
100y free: 52.72 100m free: 59.17
200y fly: 2:04.23 200m fly: 2:22.44
500y free: 4:58.62 400m free: 4:25.97
200y IM: 2:09.04 200m IM: 2:27.77

Creasy joins another butterflier, Corrin VanLanen, who has also committed to the Bobcats. The two have very similar 100 fly and 200 free times and should serve as excellent training partners. Whereas VanLanen excels more at the shorter end of the range, Creasy extends out into the distances. Either one of them would have scored in the 100 fly at Mid-America Conference Championships this year. Creasy would have also picked up points in the 200 free and 500 free.

Apparently Brittany de-commited from Ohio. Good for her, I have heard some nasty things about the head coach over there. She dodged a big bullet.
