Ohio State Claims US Collegiate Synchronized Swimming Championship Title

Ohio State won its 29th collegiate title Saturday at the 2015 U.S. Collegiate Synchronized Swimming Championships.

The Buckeyes captured the Team Trophy with 93 points, followed by Lindenwood (89), Stanford (79.5), University of the Incarnate Word (64) and Florida (50.5) and Wheaton College (50.5).

OSU also won the team routine final with 87.7667 points, edging Stanford at 86.8667. Lindenwood was third at 85.8000.

Lindenwood’s Mary Killman, a 2012 U.S. Olympian, finished with three gold medals in solo, duet and trio. She won solo with 88.7667 points. Ohio State’s Emma Baranski took silver at 87.9333, and Incarnate Word’s Sydney Sprinkle won bronze with 81.8000 points.

In the duet, Lindenwood’s Killman teamed with Vasilisa Mironova to take first place at 88.4000 points. Ohio State’s Alyssa Hoying and Lorraine Hack finished second with 85.8333 points, and Stanford’s Clare McGovern and Sandra Ortellado, a member of the U.S. National Squad, took third at 85.5000.

Killman, Irene Beaus and Dennise Ramirez won trio for Lindenwood with 87.1333 points. Ohio State’s Hoying, Hack and Monica Velazquez-Stiak finished second at 86.0333, and OSU teammates Baranski, Elizabeth Davidson and Khadija Zanotto were third at 85.6333.

Mary Killman was first in the A Figures competition on Friday with 80.0381 points. Rounding out the top 5 were Ohio State teammates Emma Baranski (78.7985), Monica Velazquez-Stiak (78.4757) and Lorraine Hack (78.3785), and Lindenwood’s Vasilisa Mironova (77.7674).

In B Figures, Stanford’s Shiree Lee led the way with 72.0690 points. Also in the top 5 were Ohio State’s Jessica Giannuzzi (70.6247), Stanford’s Rina Horii (69.5015), Wheaton College’s Emma Willing (68.9459) and Ohio State’s Sarah House (68.8589).

Kathleen Sundin of University of the Incarnate Word won C Figures with 65.5037 points. Lindenwood’s Natalia Zenoni (64.5630), Wheaton College’s Andreina Rojas (64.5408), University of Arizona’s Jessica Rose Rein (64.2890) and Wheaton College’s Riley Callahan-Mayo (64.1704) rounded out the top 5.

In D Figures, University of Minnesota’s Marisa Lee won with 61.6623 points. Denise Chadwick (61.1644) of the University of Arizona was second and Wheaton College’s Emmeli Gordon (60.5244) was third. Minnesota’s Claire Steffenhagen (60.3423) was fourth and Boston University’s Anna Marin (56.6400) was fifth.
