Abby Francis and Julia Goodhead led the way with two individual wins apiece. Francis claimed the 50 and 100 free in 24.16 and 52.64, respectively, while Goodhead swept the backstroke, winning the 100 in 58.30 and the 200 in 2:07.26.

Other wins by the Davidson women came from Siena Senn (200 free, 1:54.04), Rani Greer (100 breast, 1:06.19), Shelby Stanley (200 fly, 2:05.29) and in the 1,000 free, where Sylvia Stewart-Bates (10:30.95) led a 1-2-3 Wildcat finish.

Davidson also won two women’s relays, with Francis, Stanley, Greer and Hope Carpenter taking the 4×100 medley (3:51.63) and Goodhead, Francis, Martha Tripsa and Chale Jacks winning the 4×50 free (1:37.00).

“The women were great,” said Davidson coach John Young. “The divers staked them to a lead, and they didn’t let up. From the first relay through most of the individual events, the women were productive. A step forward from their last time out.”

For the Davidson men, Miles Charles led the way with two wins. He swam out front in both butterfly events, winning the 100 in 51.58 and the 200 in 1:56.84. Thomas Broderick added a win in the 100 back (52.77).

“The men had some really gutsy performances, but I’m not sure they have fired on all cylinders yet,” said Young. “We did see some forward progress in many events, including really promising and tough swims for many of the underclassmen. We were in a position to win, thanks to the divers. It was fun for the meet to come down to the last relay.”

In diving, Davidson’s Annica Valmassei posted the best women’s scores with 248.10 in the one-meter and 254.55 in the 3M. Wildcat Ben Cutforth led the way with a score of 250.28 in 1M and 274.72 in the 3M.
