Grace Shinske won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 57.57 and the 200 back going 2:04.87 while Micah DeJonge won a pair of events in the 500 (4:41.52) and 1,000 freestyle (9:38.72) as the Oakland men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams defeated Cleveland State 170-129.5 (men) and 185-107 (women) Friday night at Robert F. Busbey Natatorium.

Shinske, along with Rachel Waite, Takara Martin and Holly Morren comprised the winning 200 medley relay team that went 1:44.64. Hannah Burgess was the victor in the 1,000 free going 10:40.37, other winners included Waite in the 100 breaststroke (1:04.96), Patricia Aschan in the 200 butterfly and breaststroke plus the 100 IM (2:06.60; 2:20.59; 59.07), Katie Colwell in the 100 free (52.23) and Alysse Fischer in the 500 free (5:07.89). The Oakland women also won the 200 free relay in a time of 1:35.13 with the team of Morren, Arynn de Leeuw, Amber Lefler and Colwell.

Other event winners on the men’s side were Jacob Pearson in the 200 free (1:41.86), Aaron Helander in the 200 fly (1:52.08), Paul Huch in the 50 free (20.90), Joe Smith in the 1- and 3-meter boards (343.05; 362.40), and Ayrton Kasemets in the 200 breaststroke (2:09.22).

The women’s team will return to action for the final regular season competition of the year taking on Bowling green at home Feb. 3 at 5 p.m.
