Nunawading’s Rohan Taylor Takes On New Coaching Director Role

Australia is taking part in some of the post-Rio coaching and athlete shuffle that typically comes with kicking off a new Olympic quadrennial, as Rohan Taylor has been announced as Coaching Director of the Nunawading Swimming Club.

Having been in the club’s High Performance Coach role since 2008, Taylor has now moved into the CD role where he will be working with swimmers all across the levels of the storied Victoria, Australia-based organization.

We are just one week into the new program and already we are seeing the benefits of Rohan’s involvement with both coaches and swimmers,” Nunawading Chief Executive Gary Barclay told The Herald Sun. “There is no doubt that having a highly respected and experienced swim coach working across our junior and age group swimmers will assist in fast tracking their technique and skill development.”

Prior to joining Nunawading 8 years ago, Taylor spent 9 years with Carey Aquatic and prior to that was an Australian National Team coach for 17 years. His roster of previous Olympians include multiple gold medalist Leisel Jones, while Taylor most recently had a hand in Travis Mahoney, Josh Beaver and Belinda Hocking making this year’s Olympic squad.

Sliding into Taylor’s now-vacant High Performance Coach role now is Scott Talbot, a two-time Olympian in his own right for New Zealand. Talbot comes to Nunawading from the Sydney University Swim Club, where he had been posted since 2013.

“The club is in a great position to build on our recent success with Belinda Hocking, Travis Mahoney and Joshua Beaver all performing well in Rio. The club is entering a very exciting period for our swimmers at all levels.” says Barclay.
