The Colonial Athletic Association runs its swimming and diving championships separately, so Day One really began over the weekend when the conference’s divers competed on the one-meter and three-meter boards.
Diving
On demand video: Day 1
On Saturday, Delaware Kristina Congdon won the women’s 3-meter diving, scoring 306.55 points. It was the senior’s first gold medal in the event. Olivia Lehman of James Madison placed second with 304.45 points, and Caitlin Stockwell of Delaware rounded out the podium with 268.00.
Drexel senior David Sanchez won men’s 1-meter diving with 332.25 points. It was his first gold medal in the 1-meter event; he won the 3-meter diving in 2013 and 2015. UNC Wilmington’s Allen Crosby took second with 289.15, while Delaware’s Luke Winkler placed third (270.45).

On Sunday, Lehman, the James Madison junior, rose to the top step of the podium for 1-meter diving with 290.45 points. Congdon and Stockwell took second and third with 277.55 and 266.30 points, respectively.
Delaware junior Winkler outscored Drexel’s Sanchez by less than a point in 3-meter diving, 356.30 to 355.50. Crosby was third with 293.35 points.
Swimming, Day One
200 Medley Relays
The swimming portion of the meet began on Wednesday with the 200 medley relays and 800 free relays. William and Mary women just missed the CAA record set in 2010 by James Madison with their 1:40.43 victory from Sophie Rittenhouse (25.42), Annie Valls (28.62), Jessie Ustjanauskas (23.73), and Annie Miller (22.66). Northeastern was just behind with 1:40.70 for second; Towson touched third in 1:41.51.
On the men’s side Drexel got the win with 1:27.87 from Joel Berryman (21.78), Ralph Cannarozzi (25.03), Kyle Lukens (20.66), and Liam Kelly (20.40). Towson (1:29.36) edged UNC Wilmington (1:29.68) for second.
800 Free Relays
James Madison swam to victory in the women’s race with Kristen Zielinski (1:48.82), Carli Molano (1:49.22), Cameron Martin (1:48.55), and Quinn MacMillan (1:46.92) combining for 7:13.51. William and Mary (Selina Fuller, Jaimie Miller, Hanna Vester, and Ustjanauskas) placed second in 7:15.74. Towson finished third in 7:20.53.
William & Mary took the men’s race with a conference and meet record of 6:30.47. Will Manion (1:37.26), Jeremiah O’Donnell (1:38.31), Alex Henderson (1:38.41), and Billy Russell (1:36.49) combined for a winning 6:30.47. Drexel (Berryman, Ivo Pejovic, Luke Hanner, and Lukens) touched second in 6:34.44. Delaware rounded out the podium with 6:36.71.
