North Carolina Breaststroker Ryan Mathes Verbally Commits to Colgate

Ryan Mathes, a senior at Panther Creek High School, has made a verbal commitment to Colgate University for the 2015-16 season. Mathes is a breaststroke/freestyler from Cary, North Carolina. He swims with North Carolina Aquatic Club and was a 100 breast finalist at the 2014 North Carolina High School 4A State Championships.

Mathes’ top times over the last two seasons are:

200y breast: 2:10.89 200m breast: 2:33.46
100y breast: 59.54 100m breast: 1:10.18
50y free: 22.55 50m free: 26.23
100y free: 48.60 100m free: 55.59
200y free: 1:45.83 200m free: 2:03.64
200y IM: 2:00.00 200m IM: 2:19.91

Mathes will be joining the smallest roster in the Patriot League. Colgate hired former TCU coach Andy Waeger to be the Mark S. Randall Head Swimming and Diving Coach in July 2014, and seems intent on rebuilding the program. It should be an exciting time to be part of Colgate swimming and diving.
