New Caledonia To Send 13 To Oceanic Championships Next Month

New Caledonia has announced they’ll be sending 13 swimmers to the Oceanic Championships set to run from June 21st-26th in Suva, Fiji.

They will be sending seven women and six men. The full roster is as follows:

Women (7): Lara Grangeon, Armelle Hidrio, Ylenka Maurin, Isla Rogala, Emma Terebo, Anaïs Toven and May Toven.

Men (6): Jérémie Dufourmantelle, Maxime Grousset, Florent Janin, Thibaut Mary, Thomas Oswald and Hugo Ricarrere.

Lara Grangeon highlights the women’s team, as she competed at the 2012 Olympics in the 400 IM and has four Long Course World Championships under her belt starting in Rome in ’09 and competing all the way through until Kazan last summer. Last summer Grangeon was a finalist in the 400 IM in Kazan placing 8th.

New Caledonia is a French territory comprised of 12 islands in the South Pacific, so Grangeon was competing for France at those high level competitions.

Grangeon also won 11 gold medals at the 2015 Pacific Games, while Emma Terebo won eight.

Jérémie Dufourmantelle and Thibaut Mary highlight the men’s side, as both won six medals at the 2015 Pacific Games, including a gold in the 3km open water event for Mary.
