Nevada State Medalist Astrid Villeda Commits to NAU

The Northern Arizona women have picked up a new verbal, as Astrid Villeda has given her verbal commitment to swim for the Lumberjacks in the NCAA. Villeda will make the move to Flagstaff from Las Vegas, Nevada, where she currently attends Rancho High School. She trains club with Desert Storm Swimming in Boulder City.

On her commitment:

“I’m beyond blessed and excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my swimming and academic career at Northern Arizona University. Villeda’s Top Times:

  • 100 yard free- 53.14
  • 200 yard free- 1:52.06
  • 500 yard free- 4:56.16
  • 200 yard fly- 2:08.92
  • 200 yard IM- 2:07.34
  • 400 yard IM- 4:27.50

Villeda is primarily a freestyler, and has had success at the Nevada High School State Championships. At last season’s Nevada 4A meet, she was a 2-time individual finalist and earned a medal in both of her individual events. She had her highest finish in the 500 free, taking silver, and finished 3rd in the 200 free.
