Nebraska’s Kat Keller Gives Commitment to Youngstown State

Kat Keller from Omaha, Nebraska has committed to Youngstown State University for the 2017-18 season. Keller is a senior at Papillion-La Vista High School and swims for Sarpy County Swim Club. Keller says she chose YSU because “I loved the environment both on and off campus. The girls were a lot of fun to be around. I also enjoyed how the school focuses on the success of their athletes in the classroom as well as in sports.”

Keller is a backstroke/freestyle specialist. She was part of the Papillion-La Vista High School team record-breaking 400 free relay in 2014, and is currently 5th on the PLHS all-time list for the 100 back. Keller competed in the 100/500 free at the 2015 Nebraska State High School Championships. The next year, as a junior, she swam the 100 back (placing 16th), and contributed to three of PLHS’ relays.

Her best short course yards times are:

  • 100 back – 1:01.31
  • 50 free – 26.14
  • 100 free – 56.64
  • 200 free – 2:02.15

Keller will be the second in her family to compete in college; her older brother, Jordan Keller, swims for the Coast Guard Academy.
