NCSA Junior National Champion Boswell Commits to North Carolina

The North Carolina Tar Heels have received a verbal commitment from high school senior Madison Boswell, a member of the Poseidon Swim Club based out of Richmond, Virginia.

Boswell is a classic distance freestyler/400 IM’er/200 butterflier for the Tar Heels. She has best times of 4:54.66 and 16:51.0 in the 500 and 1650 freestyles, a 1:59.81 in the 200 fly (her best event), and lifetime bests of 2:03.69 and 4:18.04 in the 200 and 400 yard IM’s.

Boswell’s an even better swimmer in long course: in the 200 meter fly, her best time is 2:13.84, and in the 400 meter IM, her best is 4:53.81.

She was the NCSA Champion over the summer at the long course Junior National meet in that 200 meter fly, and ranked 6th among individual high-point scorers at that meet.

North Carolina made a natural fit for her. Though all three will be gone by the time Boswell begins her collegiate career, the Tar Heels had three swimmers score at the NCAA Championships in this event in 2013 – including Cari Blalock in 3rd (1:54.65) and Meredith Hoover in 4th (1:54.75).
