NCAP Freestyler Adrian Lin Commits to Yale University

Adrian Lin, who swims with Nation’s Capital Swim Club, has made a commitment to join the Yale University Class of 2019.*

“I chose Yale because the combination of amazing academics and the legendary team made it the ideal place to spend my undergraduate years as a student athlete. Also, my sister recently graduated from Yale and her time at the university exposed me to the collaborative and welcoming environment that I’ve grown to love.”

At the 2014 Washington Metropolitan Interscholastic Swimming and Diving Championships, the then-junior at Georgetown Prep finished second in the 200 free (1:38.72) and second in the 100 free (45.67) –in two very tight races. Both times he lost to the new Metros recordholder in the event. Lin was also a member of Georgetown Prep’s second-place 200 free relay and winning 400 free relay.

Swimming with NCAP at the 2014 NCSA Summer Swimming Championships, Lin finaled in the 100, 200, and 400 free. His top times are:

100y free: 45.67                100m free: 52.62
200y free: 1:38.01            200m free: 1:53.99
500y free: 4:28.79            400m free: 4:02.81

Lin will be joining a mid- to long-distance program that has seen enormous success over the last several years. He would have been a nice addition to the squad at last year’s Ivies where the Bulldogs placed two in the A-finals of the 200 and 500 but didn’t have the depth to populate the B-finals; Lin would have made both of them.

Lin is part of a stellar class of recruits that includes:

*DISCLAIMER: Lin has not yet been officially accepted to Yale. As is true with all Ivy League schools, Yale’s Admission Office will not send its acceptance letter until the beginning of December, along with those of all Early Action candidates. The procedure for a recruited athlete like Lin is for Admissions to review his transcript and SAT scores, “support (his) application for admissions in the fall,” issue a Likely Letter, then offer him acceptance into the class of 2019.
