NCAA Posts “Unofficial” Division II Qualification Lists

The NCAA has posted the “unofficial” invited psych sheets for the 2014 NCAA Division II Championships. These lists are culled much earlier than the Division I and Division III championships, because they are the first meet to fire off: D2’s are just over two weeks away, running from March 12th to 15th at the SPIRE Institute near Cleveland.

See the very unofficial qualifying lists here.

Division II makes its cuts for “invited” swimmers at a much lower line than the rest of the divisions. This year, it fell between lines 12 and 13, meaning that some very highly-ranked swimmers had to rely on optional entries to earn their trip to the meet.

Regardless, the entries are completed, and for those not familiar with Division II swimming – note that swimmers can have 4 individual entries at this meet. Of course, some swimmers are still over-entered – like Queens’ Matthew Josa, who is currently listed in 5 events (these are the things that make these lists ‘unofficial’ in nature). Division II allows coaches to enter athletes in up to 5 events pre-meet and then scratch one on race day to get to 4.
