LemonAid – an app that connects college-bound swimmers and university recruiters – launches on Android and iOS Ashburn, Virginia – October 5, 2015 – For high school swimmers and university coaches, the recruiting process can feel like treading water. It’s an endless whirlwind of emails, phone calls, campus visits and paperwork. LemonAid – a newly launched iOS and Android app, co-founded by former American Record holder Eric Knight – offers a fast, convenient solution.

Swimmers and coaches create profiles in LemonAid based on their academic, social and athletic preferences. LemonAid then matches compatible athletes and coaches. To connect, users swipe right or left, and ultimately, matches can message directly in the app. Think Tinder meets LinkedIn for NCAA athletic recruiting.

For high school athletes, LemonAid eliminates the stress of selecting a college swim program. Athletes build a profile that contains relevant information like GPA, competition times, and their events. Completed profiles, in turn, help showcase their talent and get them in front of recruiters. For coaches, LemonAid offers a friendly, quick introduction to talented swimmers and makes future interactions all the more powerful.

LemonAid (lemonaid.cc) is FREE for athletes and coaches, with paid features (upload performance video and right swipe preview) available. To download the app, visit:

LemonAid:  Co-Created By Nate Boyle and Eric Knight, LemonAid was born out of Eric’s personal experience with NCAA athletic recruiting…or lack thereof. He was never recruited. Visibility for a high school athlete is hard to come by, yet it’s critical to being noticed and recruited. LemonAid gives every athlete visibility, and shows them every college with their sport. Choosing a college is a huge decision…shouldn’t it be an informed one?

The athlete MUST use a Facebook account to connect the app, login and use it? That seems ridiculous and very restrictive. My son/athlete and many student athletes rarely use Facebook any longer or at all. Why make this the only way to use the app for athletes?

Andrew,
Thanks for your concern. The short answer is personal privacy and security. We take identity protection very seriously, and chose not to risk putting high schooler’s emails and other information out in the public domain like that. Instead, we opted to use Facebook’s already robust security to protect identities of high schoolers. It also allows for an easier import of photos, as well as social connections to each university–which is part of our LemonAid score. It’s a way to prioritize which schools match your son’s needs.

I hope this helps. You can send us any other inquiries at [email protected]. Thanks.

LemonAid will be a great tool for my granddaughter in searching for a college that meets her academic and athletic endeavors.
