The No. 5/12 NC State men’s & women’s swimming & diving team is set to take on several nationally-ranked programs at the Ohio State Invitational at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion from Nov. 17-19.

Thoughts from the Coaches
Swimming
“Looking forward to having the whole team together in Ohio for a great weekend of competition with many other teams,” said head coach Braden Holloway. “We have been competing a lot, especially the women, and this is basically the ending point for the fall.  I would like to see us continue our high level of focus and desire all the way till the meet is over and what we get is what we get and can build from there.”

Diving
“I’m looking forward to going to Columbus, full stop,” said diving coach Yahya Radman. “Obviously Madeline and James were there this summer for Summer Nationals and I believe they have something to prove at that facility. I also believe that our exposure to some different teams, including some from our zone, will provide an opportunity on both an international-caliber diver and national-caliber diver. You can’t go wrong when you go against one of the best teams in the Big Ten in terms of diving over a three-day period. I also feel the rest of the team would benefit greatly from testing where they are in terms of competition in this type of format as we go into the break, Winter Nationals in January our Invitational in Tennessee.”

Held & Brady Honored by ACC
The ACC honored NC State senior Ryan Held as Men’s Swimmer of the Week and NC State sophomore James Brady as Men’s Diver of the Week on Tuesday, Nov. 14. Held helped steer the Wolfpack to victory over #9 Texas on Friday, Nov. 10, contributing 29 points to the Wolfpack’s total of 176 as he won both the 50 and 100 freestyle, earning NCAA ‘B’ cuts in both. His 50 freestyle time of 19.57 is currently the second-fastest recorded in the country behind Caeleb Dressel of Florida, while his 43.16 finish in the 100 freestyle is the fourth-fastest. Both times sit atop the ACC top times list. He was also part of the 200 medley relay team along with Coleman StewartJacob Molacek and Justin Ress that took first place in the event with a time of 1:25.94 seconds, which is currently fastest in the country in the event,

Brady finished second on both the one and three-meter boards; his scores of 352.80 and 367.2 were both NCAA Zone marks.
