NC High School State Champ Levente Bathory Commits to Harvard

Levente Bathory of Winston-Salem, North Carolina has made a verbal commitment to the application process at Harvard University.*

“I chose Harvard because of the great team atmosphere; I felt it was a perfect fit for me right when I got to campus.”

Bathory is a sprint freestyler and backstroker out of Enfinity Aquatic Club, a club that is only 4 years old. Head coach Tim Hillen, who started the program, shared the following with SwimSwam.

“We have just had our 1st swimmer go through our program currently finishing his senior year and he has set the bar quite high! Levente is the first person to complete 4 years of swimming since the inception of the Enfinity Aquatic Club. Levente and a small group of 12 swimmers made up the first season of our program. Because of the accolades and name recognition behind Levente and his teammates the program has since grown to 130 swimmers in 3 cities (Winston-Salem, Huntersville, Greensboro).  We’d like to think the growth is all due to good coaching and business strategy, but the majority of growth is due to Levente and the founding members’ work ethic, personality and results.

“He is an absolutely fantastic swimmer, student and person.  He shaped the program, and it will be one of the hardest days for me as a coach when he heads up to Harvard.”

Levente is a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American from Ronald Reagan High School who won the 200 free and placed second in the 100 free at the 2016 North Carolina 4A State Championships. At Speedo Junior Nationals this summer he finished 12th in the 50m free, 4th in the 100m free, 7th in the 200m free, 38th in the 100m back, and 47th in the 100m fly, earning best times in all the freestyle events.
