NC-Based Cara Martin Commits to Marshall Thundering Herd

The Marshall women have added a new member to their recruiting class, as Cara Martin has given her commitment to join the Thundering Herd next season. Martin is currently based in North Carolina, where she trains with the Marlins of Raleigh. She’ll be graduating from Clayton High School at the end of this school year.

“After visiting, I knew I loved not only the coaches and team, but also the campus and overall environment. I feel that I will be able to be the best person I can be, the best student I can be, and the best swimmer I can be at Marshall. I am looking forward to the next four years! Go Thundering Herd!”

Martin’s Top Times:

  • 100 free- 54.79
  • 200 free- 1:59.14
  • 500 free- 5:04.94
  • 1650 free- 17:26.81
  • 100 back- 59.49
  • 200 IM- 2:10.48
  • 400 IM- 4:31.10

Last season, Martin qualified to swim both of her individual events at the 2016 North Carolina 4A State Championships. She cracked the top 16 in the 500 free at that meet with her 15th place finish, and picked up a 17th place finish in the 200 free.
