Naidich and Kobrich Clean Up at Argentine National Championships

Both Martin Naidich and Kristel Kobrich won multiple events at the Argentine National Championships were held over the past weekend.

Naidich took the 200, 400, 800 and 1500 freestyle events while Kobrich 400, 800 and 1500 freestyle.

Club Universitario Cordoba took the team title collecting 394 points.

Top three point standings:

  1. Club Universitario Cordoba – 394
  2. Nat Soc Al Gym VB – 249
  3. Academia Natacion Cordoba – 154

The championships were a qualifier for the World Championships in Kazan. During the four day competition not one athlete qualified for the meet.

The competition was held at a brand new pool at the Sports Center Mario  Kempes in Cordoba. The pool was named after an Argentine Olympic hero Georgina Bardach. Bardach won the bronze in the 400 IM at the 2004 Olympics in Athens.

These were also the first national championships where swimmers collected cash for their performances. The winner of events would receive 1200 pesos, second place would receive 700 and third would receive 400.
