MOR Sprinter Sophie Clayton-Luce to Swim for UNC-Wilmington

Sophie Clayton-Luce from Raleigh, North Carolina has made a commitment to University of North Carolina at Wilmington for the 2018-19 season.

Clayton-Luce swims for Millbrook High School and Marlins of Raleigh. She specializes primarily in sprint free, back and fly. At 2017 Winter Juniors East she competed in the 50/100 free and 100 back and time-trialed the 100 fly. She picked up a new PB in the 50 free leading off the MOR 200 free relay. At Nashville Futures she finaled in the 50/100 free and 100 back, and earned PBs in the 100 free and 100 back. Earlier in the summer she had gone best times in the 50 free and 200 back.

As a sophomore, Clayton-Luce landed a pair of fourth-place finishes in the 50 free (23.63) and 100 free (51.96) at 2016 North Carolina 4A State Championships. This past spring she competed at the 2017 NCSA Spring Championship in the 100/200 free, 100 back, and 50/100 fly. Her top SCY times include:

  • 50 free – 23.63
  • 100 free – 92
  • 200 free – 1:52.91
  • 100 fly – 91
  • 100 back – 15
