Mizzou Snags Verbal Commitment from 5x WIAA D2 Champ Alex Moderski

Alex Moderski of McFarland, Wisconsin has verbally committed to join the University of Missouri women’s swimming and diving class of 2023. She will join fellow commit Amy Feddersen in 2019-20.

“I am very excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and swimming careers at the University of Missouri.  A huge thank you to everyone that has helped and supported me all these years.  Go Tigers!!!”

Moderski is a five-time individual Wisconsin Division 2 state champion for McFarland High School. She won the 50 free in 2015, 2016 and 2017, and the 100 free in 2015 and 2017 (she was runner-up in 2016). She holds the Division 2 records in both the 50 free (22.84) and 100 free (50.26), both of which she set in 2015.

A solid sprint freestyler, Moderski has performed consistently throughout her high school career, even though some of her best times come from her breakout freshman season. She won all three state titles in the 50 with 23.0 or better, and all three of her 100s were sub-51s.

In club swimming with McFarland Spartan Sharks, Moderski has had an excellent spring, going best times in the 100/200 free, 50/100 back, 50 breast, and 100/200 IM. Last summer she improved her lifetime bests in the 50/100m free and 50m fly.

Top SCY times:

  • 50 free – 22.84
  • 100 free – 50.22
  • 100 breast – 1:05.96
  • 50m free – 26.30
  • 100m free  – 57.42
