Mizzou Earns Verbal Commitment from 3-Sport Athlete, Sarah Thompson

Sarah Thompson, a three-sport (volleyball, swimming, and water polo) athlete from St. George’s Independent School in Collierville, Tennessee, has made a verbal commitment to swim at the University of Missouri in 2017-18. The 6’1” Thompson had originally planned to pursue volleyball in college, but in May 2015 she “made the switch to competitive swimming with Memphis Thunder Aquatic Club under Head Coach Dan Schultz.” Thompson told SwimSwam:

”I’m so excited to announce my commitment to Mizzou! The team, facilities, and campus are exceptional and I am looking forward to continuing my swimming career as a Tiger! I cannot wait to swim under the amazing staff of coaches and continue to pursue academic excellence at this outstanding university! Thank you to my team, coaches, family and friends for helping me achieve my goals! #GOTIGERS”

Swimming for St. George’s under coach Rob Snowberger, Thompson won the 50 free (23.34) and placed fifth in the 100 free (51.95) at the 2016 TISCA Swimming and Diving Championships. She also led off the 200 medley relay and anchored the 400 free relay, leading St. George’s to a 10th-place team finish.

A USA Swimming Scholastic All-Amercian, Thompson competed at 2016 Speedo Summer Junior Nationals in the 50m free and 100m back. Her best SCY times include:

  • 50 free – 23.34
  • 100 free – 51.39
  • 50 back – 27.09
  • 100 back – 58.02
  • 100 fly – 57.92

Thompson will join the Tigers’ class of 2021 with fellow verbal commits Amanda Smith, Caitlin Clements, Devan Sweeney, Emily Snyder, and Lauren Savoy.
