Missy Franklin Named Pac-12 Swimmer of the Month for December

She hasn’t even swum an NCAA Championship meet yet, but Missy-fever has swept through Berkeley, California.

The latest honor is that Franklin has been named the Pac-12 Swimmer of the Month for December, shortly after Cal’s Athletics Department named her mere arrival on campus as the 3rd-best moment of the fall semester in Cal athletics.

In December, Franklin was the individual high point winner at the 2013 Winter National Championships in Knoxville. That included breaking the School Record in the 500 free with a 4:34.63, and adding more national titles to her prodigious resume in the 200 free (another School Record) and the 100 back.

She was also a part of the 400 medley, 400 free, and 800 free relays that broke Meet Records at Winter Nationals.

Cal’s first swimming competition of the spring semester is still a ways-away, as they welcome in their in-conference Arizona foes Arizona State and Arizona on January 24th and 25th: both of which will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks.

That is a funny (although not flattering) photo of Missy.

The most anticipated question leading to NCAA undoubtedly will be: what (events) will Missy swim?

Probably 500 free on day 1, 200 free on day 2 and 100 free on day 3.
No 200 back, her primary event? 😥
